Statistics

Want to know how many DNS requests you're doing each day? Want to know what your top domains are? Want to block sites in an intuitive interface? Done, done and done.

Get the count of every domain looked up on your network, over any period of time. View the data as a chart, a table or export the data into Excel. This is your data, and now you can view it like never before.

The power of log files, without the pain

  • Avoid the pain and expense of storing and backing up your DNS data.
  • Skip the hassle of installing or building tools to parse and analyze.
  • Get insight never before available, or hidden due to lousy tools.
  • Centralize information about DNS traffic for all locations and networks.
  • Review your stats for your entire account, or break the numbers down by network, all the way down to the individual IP address.

All you need is a web browser, and a free account — then dive in to the OpenDNS Dashboard.

Different views into your DNS

Slice and dice your data in multiple ways, across different time periods.

  • Total DNS requests
  • Total unique domains requested
  • Total unique IPs making requests (of interest for larger networks)
  • Domains requested, in ranked order with domain-specific totals
    • Actionable. If you see an unwanted domain pop up in your Domains stats, you can block the domain right from the stats display.
  • Blocked Domains requested (individual domain blocks)
  • Request Types (A, MX, PTR, and more)

More filters

These reports can be furthered reviewed by:

  • Network or all networks at once
  • Including only specific domains
  • Including only specific source IPs (of interest for larger networks)
  • Including only specific request types
  • Excluding blocked domains (individually blocked)
  • Excluding block pages (phish.opendns.com & block.opendns.com)

Charts, tables, and more

The Dashboard interface gives you four choices for viewing your data.

  • Charts are useful because pictures are worth... well, you know.
  • Data tables instantly show domain names and order with no confusion.
  • Comma-separated values (CSV) let you take your data and import it into Excel, a database, or any other program.
  • Printer-friendly format for when you want hard copy without wasting ink.

This is your data

We give you control over any DNS data we collect. Tell us to keep it (for the detailed insights and charts) or tell us to purge it. You can even tell us not to store it at all. We know that for most of you, keeping logs about your DNS traffic (which, again, we won't ever sell) provides you a greater experience and quality of service.

To be 100% clear:

  • OpenDNS does not share your personal data.
  • OpenDNS does not sell your personal data.
  • OpenDNS does not trade your personal data.

We cover this in detail in our privacy policy, but here are two excerpts.

First:

For customers with an account, such data may be stored for as long as the account is open (although, customers with an account may also choose to have DNS data purged automatically, at any time, from within their account).

Second:

For customers without an account, OpenDNS removes the IP address from its logs within 2 business days.

Don't take our word for it. Read what our customers say or go ahead and get started!
