You're Invited: 2009 SysAdmin Appreciation Party!
The SysAdmin Appreciation Party in San Francisco is an annual event and this, our third year hosting it, is poised to be the best yet. In part because we're cohosting with Meraki - an OpenDNS partner and leading cloud-based wireless LAN provider - and in part because we expect the largest turnout so far and have some awesome giveaways planned.
Join the OpenDNS and Meraki teams, along with SysAdmins from around the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, on Wednesday, July 29 at DNA Lounge from 6 - 10 pm.
Register now, and bring your friends and colleagues!
Let Us Remind Your Boss About SysAdmin Day.
Here at OpenDNS, we know all about the life of a SysAdmin. It's a thankless job. You work 'round the clock to make sure everything is up and running and don't get so much as a "good job" from anyone.
This year that changes. We want to make sure you get the appreciation you deserve this SysAdmin Day, July 31. So much so that we'll email your boss a few days before and remind him or her that the day is approaching. Just sign up for the OpenDNS SysAdmin Day Boss Reminding Service and we'll make sure it gets handled. Just another example of OpenDNS looking out for you, SysAdmin, and a perk of using our service.
Customer Spotlight: Specialized Bicycles.
We love Specialized. It's a company that puts focus on its customers, something we, too, strive to do. We also love that Specialized is using OpenDNS to make the Internet at its California headquarters safer, faster, smarter and more reliable.
"I choose OpenDNS because it is simple, fast, and it just works," said Ray Dzek, who runs network operations for Specialized Bicycles. "I have our filtering settings on low to filter some of the Internet's dark side. And I like the CacheCheck feature as we're a dynamic environment, re-organizing many of our sites and domain names regularly. CacheCheck gives me insight into DNS caches that I've never before had."

Sneak Peek: OpenDNS Going (Even More!) Global.
OpenDNS provides services to businesses, schools, organizations and households around the world. And as our global reach is growing, so is our footprint.
Many of you will be excited to learn that later this year, OpenDNS will add a new datacenter in Amsterdam to better serve our European customers and a yet-to-be-determined Asia location to serve our customers in the Pacific Rim.
Since OpenDNS is anycasted, the new datacenters mean faster DNS resolution for those OpenDNS users in Europe and the Pac Rim. You don't have to make any changes on your end to get the faster DNS resolution. We'll be sure to keep you posted with more detail about when the new locations go online.

Having trouble visiting one of your favorite sites?
One of the coolest OpenDNS features is the ability to refresh the entire OpenDNS cache. That's right. With CacheCheck, we let you refresh our servers' cache yourself.
The next time you have an issue loading a Web site, head on over to CacheCheck. Refresh the caches and see if it fixes the issue. (Occasionally a Web host, for various reasons, will change the IP address where a site is hosted.) If after refreshing the cache on the domain you still see issues, open a support ticket and we'll dig further.
