Web Content Filtering

OpenDNS's rich database of more than 50 categories and millions of domains allows you to control which sites can be accessed on your network. OpenDNS's categories include those that are pertinent to meeting CIPA requirements such as adult, hate and gambling. The easy-to-use administration console allows you to quickly set up and manage content filtering policies on a per-network or per-school basis, giving you greater, more granular control when applying access policies to Internet usage.

The Web content filtering system is powered by OpenDNS Domain Tagging, an innovative approach to Web site categorization that empowers OpenDNS customers around the world to contribute insight about category accuracy in real time. The result is the most current, accurate Web content filtering service available.

OpenDNS also provides whitelist and blacklist features to enable you to create exception cases ("always allow" and "always block") to complement category-based filtering. The whitelist-only feature is best used for classrooms or computer labs where you would like to restrict Internet access to a few, pre-selected Web sites students can visit. This allows for a "locked-down" and controlled environment.
