Blocked domain still available
In general, if you have blocked a domain but find you still have access to the site, make sure you have done the following:
- Confirm you are using OpenDNS by visiting http://welcome.opendns.com.
- Flushed your browser cache, and, in some cases, flushed the local resolver cache on your computer. If you have a router or firewall, please check that those caches are cleared, too. All local caches are the common culprit here.
- Waited approximately 5-10 minutes for your network settings to propagate to our servers.
- Verified your network IP is up to date in your OpenDNS account, in the case of dynamic IPs.
- Check that you blocked the domain at the broadest level. For instance, www.example.com and example.com are different. The most effective block would be of example.com -- it would include www.example.com.
Note: If you are on a Dynamic IP range, please install our OpenDNS Updater, located here: http://www.opendns.com/support/article/245 and enable your account to use Dynamic IP)
