Blocked domain still available

In general, if you have blocked a domain but find you still have access to the site, make sure you have done the following:

  1. Confirm you are using OpenDNS by visiting http://welcome.opendns.com.
  2. Flushed your browser cache, and, in some cases, flushed the local resolver cache on your computer. If you have a router or firewall, please check that those caches are cleared, too. All local caches are the common culprit here.
  3. Waited approximately 5-10 minutes for your network settings to propagate to our servers.
  4. Verified your network IP is up to date in your OpenDNS account, in the case of dynamic IPs.
  5. Check that you blocked the domain at the broadest level. For instance, www.example.com and example.com are different. The most effective block would be of example.com -- it would include www.example.com.

Note: If you are on a Dynamic IP range, please install our OpenDNS Updater, located here: http://www.opendns.com/support/article/245 and enable your account to use Dynamic IP)
