VPNs and OpenDNS - use Typo Exceptions

OpenDNS cannot resolve names that are on private networks, so some VPN software which tries to ask OpenDNS for an internal domain will fail.

Typo Exceptions provides a simple solution.

  1. Create a free account or sign in to your account.
  2. Add a network, if you haven't already.
  3. Go to the Settings tab.
  4. Click Manage Typo Exceptions in the navigation.
  5. Add your internal domain(s) to this list.
  6. Wait 3 minutes (worst case) and all should be well.

If you have a problem, make sure that your current IP address (as shown in the Dashboard or at http://www.whatismyip.org/) matches the Network in your OpenDNS account where you've applied the Typo Exceptions.
