Additional Customization Options in OpenDNS Enterprise
The following options are found on the Customization page for OpenDNS Enterprise customers only.
Advertisements
OpenDNS's free solutions place contextual advertisements on the Guide and Block pages to generate revenues, which help cover our operational expenses. The advertisements are always relevant to the end-user's last URL entry in order to expedite navigating to their intended website.
Upon initial configuration, however, OpenDNS Enterprise disables the advertisements on the Guide and Block pages by default. OpenDNS Administrators can enable ads for their networks using the Customization page. Enable Advertisements is located directly under the Logos section.
NX Domain Redirection
OpenDNS uses NXDOMAIN (non-existent domain) redirection to provide end-users with useful features such as typo correction and the OpenDNS Guide page. These features enhance Internet navigation and help end-users reach their intended websites.
OpenDNS typo correction automatically fixes common domain address misspellings and routes end-users to the websites they were attempting to reach. The OpenDNS Guide page informs end-users, with a customizable message, why they are viewing this page instead of their intended website, which may no longer exist or is not working properly.
OpenDNS Administrators can disable OpenDNS NX redirection, if desired, using the Customization page and scrolling to the NX Domain Redirection section. If disabled, the typo-correction and OpenDNS Guide features will no longer work.
