What's a shortcut parameter?

A parameter is part of a URL which makes the page change.

For example, http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=yhoo has yhoo as a parameter.

Change yhoo to msft and you get a different page, with Microsoft's stock price instead of Yahoo's.

Parameters can be powerfully used with OpenDNS shortcuts, as described here:
