Signing In and Out

While not signed in you will only see an account email and password prompt with a sign in button. Fill in these fields with your OpenDNS account information and click the sign-in button to sign into the toolbar. Upon signing in, the rest of the toolbar's functionality is unlocked.

While signed in, the email and password fields are locked, obfuscated, and hidden and the sign-in button becomes a sign-out button. Click the sign-out button to sign out of the toolbar.

Domain Field

This field is automatically filled in with the most recently loaded domain you have loaded in your web browser. You can edit the field and enter another domain at any time. The Domain Field auto-corrects paths and the http://www. part of a domain, which is helpful to us (and you!) in tagging domains more efficiently. You must have a domain in this field if you want to submit votes.

Categories and Voting

  1. Category Dropdown - This drop down menu lists all of the active categories that you can submit tag votes for in combination with the domain in the Domain Field. You must select a category in order to submit votes.
  2. Vote Yes / Vote No / Vote Unsure - These buttons submit a vote for the domain and category that you have selected. If the domain you're voting on is not in our database then voting 'Yes' will add it to our database under your public OpenDNS display name and count a 'Yes' vote as well.
  3. Random Domain - This button will bring you to a random domain already pending (and needing) votes in the category that you have selected. The more votes a domain has the faster it will be attended to by our moderators and staff.
  4. Auto-Cycle - This checkbox, when enabled, will bring you to a new domain under the selected category when you have completed voting on the domain in the Domain Field. This can enable you to vote on domains quickly.

Notifications and Error Messages

The OpenDNS Domain Tagging Toolbar uses the default browser notification procedure; all toolbar messages and notifications are displayed under the toolbar. These messages include verification, warning, and error messages.

Errors

  1. Bad Authentication - Your provided credentials don't appear to be correct; double check you credentials.
  2. This domain is protected - We do not allow some domains to be voted on, such our main website; try picking another domain to vote on.
  3. An error has occurred - Something in either your web browser client had gone wrong or our servers have given back an unexpected answer. Create a support ticket detailing what you were doing and we'll help you resolve the issue.
  4. Vote Denied - Your vote for the selected domain and category has been rejected or is invalid. (Note: We do not allow unsubmitted domains to be tagged under a category with a 'No' vote)
